Stephen Jerrom and Andy Cao were recipients of the year 2000 Lindbergh Foundation Award.
Every year, The Charles A. and Anne Morrow Lindbergh Foundation award grants of $10,580 for issues "Advancing the Balance Between Nature and Technology."
Among 200 applicants world-wide, their proposal was one of ten chosen.
In formal ceremonies in Seattle over the weekend of May 20th, 2000, Stephen and Andy met the distinguished members of the Lindbergh Foundation board, including two Lindbergh family members, the grandchildren of Charles Lindbergh, Kristina and Erik.
The grant proposal, written by Stephen Jerrom last summer, included this initial statement:
"In seeking to approach a more ecologically balanced diversion of usable recycled glass from that which is unnecessarily discarded in landfills, we seek funding to assist in creating prototypes of glass tiles made from this plentiful yet under-used material."
We are deeply honored to be recognized in this way. We know that the assistance provided by the grant will go along way toward helping us explore the potentials of recycled glass, as well as fulfilling the mission of the Lindbergh Foundation.
